How the training takes place

Theoretical part

2 weeks

Theoretical training in the Solar Power Plant Installer course covers a wide range of topics necessary for a thorough understanding of the basics of electrical engineering and the principles of solar power plants (SPPs). The first block of training takes place at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, where students gain knowledge of the basics of electrical engineering, including the use of power tools, measuring instruments, characteristics of cable products, protection equipment, installation of household appliances and drawing up AC and DC electrical circuits.

The second theoretical block is held in a hybrid format: students watch video tutorials from Atmosfera Academy covering topics such as PV modules, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, protective automation, grid-tied, stand-alone and hybrid PV systems. It also covers the legal aspects of installing solar power plants, services for system design, and the rules of first aid, which is an important element of safe operation. ‍

At the final stage, in the Atmosfera laboratory, the course participants are immersed in practical training, but the accompanying theory still plays a significant role. They study mounting systems for PV modules, safety precautions for working at heights, the principles of installing inverters and other system components, setting up the inverter, starting up the station, and connecting to the house's electrical grid. This part prepares students for the practical application of knowledge in real-world conditions.

Thus, the theoretical training on the course provides a solid foundation necessary for high-quality and safe installation of solar power plants, focusing not only on electrical aspects but also on regulatory requirements, design and safety.

Practical part

1 week

Participants prepare their own tools, learn about fastening systems, undergo safety training at heights, and use the equipment under the supervision of instructors. The main part of the internship is devoted to the installation of photovoltaic modules (PV modules), inverters, and other components of the solar power plant. They also start up the station, set up inverter operation scenarios, assemble protective shields, and connect the station to the home network.

Additionally, the practical part includes a visit to the SPP construction sites, which allows participants to see how the installation and connection of stations is carried out on the ground.
